Behringer XENYX 802
The other day I finally picked up a mixer. I decided to go the cheaper route and get a Behringer XENYX 802. So far I have only had a chance to hook it up to my MacBook and play around with it in GarageBand. I was able to get system sounds and mic sound into GarageBand, which is one of the main reasons I wanted to go the mixer route. My M-Audio Fast Track Pro has done well up to now but I needed more inputs and control, so it will be relegated.

The next thing I am going to work on in my podcast set up is push the sound into my Sony HD camera so I can start to do video. This should be as easy as having the proper cable to go from the mixer to the camera’s mic input. The last connection I need to make is with Skype. I want to patch in Skype calls as well so I know I will have to fool around with this for a while. I will most likely run Skype on a machine by itself so I have to figure out how to wire it up. Did a little Googling and it appears that I will have to do a ‘mix minus’ setup, whatever that is.
Will keep you posted on the progress and have some videos planned showing the new gear and the way I set it up.
